My Latest Outfits x

Crikey this week has been busy!!!
Not just at work but this is also week 3 of my new fitness regime meaning and it's been a real challenge to fit everything in. So here's a 3 in 1 post of my outfits over the past few days.

My family and I took a trip up to Hertfordshire for big family BBQ.
With the weather being so indecisive I thought an up hair doo would be best, firstly it's a lot cooler (avoiding that sweaty neck situation) also if it rained I wouldn't have to worry about the whole Monika from friends thing going on....

not the best of looks!

I wore my black H&M maxi dress, brought in at the waist with a tan belt to give the dress some shape, and finished off with aviator style sunglasses (£1.00 from Primark...got to love it!!)

A look that was polished but super easy and comfortable.

Monday Meh!

Monday morning is always a struggle for getting ready so this outfit with very much about ease!

My hair was a little too greasy to wear down with my fringe forward but there was no chance of me washing it at 6am on Monday morning, so a middle parting, short fringe strands pinned back was the way to go.

I wore my maroon TopShop skinny jeans, with this over-sided strapless cream shirt and brown NewLook wedges. Finished off with a dirty gold chunky necklace.

Wedges are a fantastic way to add a bit of effortless glamour to an outfit.

Wonderful Wednesday

After a few days of comfort and easy outfits I was ready for a more considered look.

I teamed my red Zara mini, with this Miss Selfridge over-sides shirt, its not been as warm the past few days so the tights were back on, and to pull the outfit together I added a splash of black to the top with this black satin tie.

With a buttoned to the top shirt and the black tie, there is a lot going on at the top of this outfit and so I think an up doo works best, giving the shirt a clean finish by not adding any fuss with loose hair.

Continuing the minimal fuss I wore very simple black triangle earrings from RiverIsland.

My make up was kept simple too, a black liquid line on the eye and a natural red lipstick.

Now tomorrow the weather is shooting up to 31 degrees and I'm back to the dilemma of keeping cool on sweaty trains and dressing appropriately for work.

Any suggestions are VERY welcome!!!!

Clashing prints are so so in right now...

Floral and leopard print, Oriental and check print, butterflies and stripes...I LOVE IT!!!

Of course my favorite of the four fabulous outfits above is Miss O P! The leopard print she with the floral trousers go sensationally together!!!

I tried this trend on Friday, I wore what was my aztec print asos dress, now my aztec print asos skirt with this riverisland striped crop tee. To finish the outfit I added my florescent yellow and gold triangle necklace, clashing both in shape and colour.

As I wear this dress more often as a skirt than a dress, but with it's high neck cut meant the tops that could be worn over it were limited. So I cut it just under the arm holes to allow me to create more looks with this fun print (now) skirt!! I can't wait to start experimenting.

Skin Care - Getting Personal - Covering up Acne!

Over the weekend I received a letter from the dermatologist for an appointment on September 10th
This lead me to think more about my skin, suffering from acne, in particular how many people, even some who I'm very close to have no idea that I struggle with bad skin.
Which made me think about how over the course of the 13 years I've had acne, I've become very adapt to covering it up successfully with make up, and has massively helped me cope day to day with the confidence challenges that come with a skin condition.

So I thought it might be useful for me to share my 5 key steps.

I actually meant to write this post on Sunday but chickened out because being a 20 something single girl, if a potential date sees this they may be put off, but I've had a good think and actually if that is true...I have no interest in dating them!
True beauty comes from within (without getting too deep, but it's totally true) however feeling good about your appearance massively helps with self esteem so i really hope this is helpful if bad skin is something that affects you.

Pre make up

Stage 1 - Bare Minerals Foundation

Stage 2 - MAC Studio Liquid Foundation

Stage 3 - Concealer

Stage 4 - Bronzer

Stage 5 - Blusher (plus eye make up)

Final look

5 stages may seem a lot but when you do them daily and they're part of your routine it takes no longer than 10 minutes to transform your face for the day...

Both pictures taking on the same day, in the same place, in the same lighting and instagram has not been used,
So after these 5 stages and doing my hair, I threw on my brill kakai jumpsuit and was ready to hit Covent Garden!!!

Acne is horrid and I can't wait to embark on my journey to getting rid of it, and share the journey with you all starting on the 10th September, but whilst I wait I refuse to let it hold me back!!!

Today's Outfit - Friday 19th & Saturday 20th July

Friday 19th July

Without sounding like a broken record argh putting an outfit together for work in this heat (anyone reading this not from the UK its 30 degrees C in London and our trains are not equipped for it) is hard work!!!

If I wear a skirt I have to tan my legs, if I wear trousers I'll be crazy hot, if I go sleeveless I'll have to tan my arms, also have to make sure the straps aren't too thin and inappropriate for the office (I've already ditched my no open toe rule, I don't think it'll be extending to string vest tops.)

So after much faffing in my wardrobe I went with...

my over-sided white Miss-Selfridge shirt, and my Zara pencil skirt.

I finished the look off with my pointed cream Aldo heels and a gold bar necklace from Oasis.

Saturday 20th July

Heading into Covent Garden to have a catch up over lunch with my gorgeous cousin, and of course that lunch turned into 2 bottles of wine and 4 cocktails oops!!

I teamed my fab RiverIsland jumpsuit sale find with, flat sandals and a chunky gold bracelet.

I finished off the outfit with my awesome black and gold necklace my friend got me from Spain.

Satchel's at Stunning Prices!!!

Over the past few seasons the Cambridge Satchel has grown rapidly in popularity, but they also come a a bit of a cost, ranging from £99.00 - £145.00.

They are everywhere, celebs are loving them too!!

If however over £100 is a little out of your price range (or if you'd rather have 2 for £100) why not check out Satchels and Shoes

They have a range of gorgeous Satchels for less that half the prics and some really find designs and colours.

I love the crest on the front of this bag, the colours are timeless and its super smart without being boring.

Again classic colours this statement satchel brings a bit of edge with statement gold buckle and pocket details. And ONLY £40.00

I really love the olive green colour of this Satchel, it'd add an earthy feel to any outfit.
At only £19.95 too!!
If your after something a little more fun and quirky or even for a younger sister perhaps this satchel is brill. Still very classic with the choice of colours but the owl print keeps in fun and fresh.

Now I know this isn't a satchel but I understand that not everyone likes that design so I wanted to show you this fabulous over the shoulder tan bag from the same site.
The added scarf detail is incredibly chic and again at a brilliant price of just £29.95, it's a winner!!

August Wish List....ALREADY!!!

Shopaholic taken to another level!!

I'm already looking at potential buys from next month, and we're only just half way through this one! Ooops!!!

I restricted myself to looking at 3 stores (otherwise my wages will be gone on the 31st August!!)

The playsuit obsession continues, and I am in love with this gorgeous black playsuit with the delicate neckline detail.

I think however this Victorian style shirt may just tip the playsuit as my favorite 'New In' item.
The detail on the arms and lace on the neck are beautiful and not like any shirts I've seen on the high-street at the moment.
Be Unique!!

This over size cream and leather detail jumper dress is fab! I really like soft material with a little leather look to give it a subtle edge.

I also think this zip bracelet is pretty cool too, I'm very much a gold and black kinda girl!

TopShop is clearly winning in the best 'New In' items, where to start.

The vibrant yellow of the sleeveless skater dress is fantastic for the summer!

I really like colour paneling of both the over sized tee and the sandals.

The statement gold necklace has a very 'royal crest' feel about it, and although I've never considered myself the princess type, I'm loving this!!!

My No1 pick has got to be this funfair print pencil skirt, it fun, the length keeps it classy and it can be dressed up and dress down for all occasions.

Skin Care - Getting Personal...Next Steps

Since publishing Skin Care - Getting Personal, I've had some really supportive messages, mainly privately, inbox messages and DMs on twitter but it's really shown me that
a) people aren't as judgmental and are actually quite sympathetic of those who suffer from acne
b) there are lots more people that what you'd realise who are suffering from it, they are just very good at concealing it (acne isn't always on your face)

So I thought some of you might be interested in how things are going.

My skin is right now is pretty dam bad, probably the worst its been since I was 14/15, and I'm presenting in front of a lot of people on Wednesday which I am particularly dreading!
The doctors have now given me everything they can prescribe, so I have been referred to a dermatologist.
It is likely I will be put on roaccutane, it's an extremely strong drug, with some scary side effects, but it also has an amazing success rate!!

worsening of acne

So I need to brace myself for some potentially horrific side effects, but lets be serious all medication runs some risks and doctors have to prepare you fully. But will it be worth it? Will no longer having to wake up feeling embarrassed about my face be worth going through some of the above for 6 months?

These anonymous reviews would suggest it's totally worth it...

'Accutane (isotretinoin) for AcneAccutane seriously changed my life. I never really had bad acne on my face just a couple spots and every once in a while break outs but nothing to bad. But my chest and back were terrible. I couldn't go to school without wearing shirts up to my neck. I couldn't even wear a bathing suit around anybody but my really close friends and family. My dermatologist told me to try Acctane. I was really scared at first because I heard it had some bad side effects but i had tried everything. Within the first month my acne on my back and chest were almost none existent. The only down sides is it makes your lips very dry. Carmex was the only thing that worked for me. I highly suggest Accutane. The Pros overcome the Cons by 1000 percent.'

'Accutane (isotretinoin) for AcneI had cystic acne on my face, neck, shoulders, and back. I have never been able to wear a tank top, or bathing suit and my hair with no makeup for 7 years. HIGHLY RECOMMEND ACCUTANE! I'm not even done my 120 day course yet and I could almost cry right now, talking about how great I feel now. I think the trick to avoiding all those serious side effects is sticking to a lower dosage. I'm on 30mg a day and it took 3 1/2 months (BE STRONG PEOPLE IT TAKES TIME) and I can officially say I am acne free all over for the first time in 7 years. I wish I could be some sort of motivational speaker for this stuff. If you are thinking about it DO IT! Down side is the dry patches on my arms and cracked lips, the only thing that works is Vaseline. And another upside to it is my hair! It never gets oily!'

Next stage of the journey - seeing the dermatologist!

Red Zara Skirt is out again!!

On what is the hottest day of the year in England we're saying thank you and happy retirement to a man who was like a second dad to me when I was growing up (not sure I've reach 'grown up' yet but you know what I mean!) From the age of 8 to 21 I was a competitive swimmer, and from the age of 8-18 my home town coach saw me through the ups and downs of competitive sports.

Take your marks...

Me in action at 19!

Today we're heading to a cute pub in Twickenham for his retirement doo.

With the 33 degree heat in mind the amount of clothing wanted on the body is minimal (without being inappropriate of course!) and so the red skirt is out again, it's a little gem!

This time I teamed it with a black vest top and my gold Oasis necklace, simple, classic, and not too much material in this heat!

I honestly think my relationship with these shoes is a little on the obsessive side, so yes they are accompanying my feet once again.

As well as the gold necklace and my D&G gold watch, I'm wearing these fab little RiverIsland studs, a subtle way of tying in the black of the shoes with the outfit.

So ready to head off out and the family are taking far too long to get ready, and really the only thing to do in these instances is...well...start early...

CHEERS everyone!!!

I hope you all have an amazing Saturday!

Nia of Fashfoodista
Paulina of Petite Paulina

  1. Nominees must answer 11 questions asked by the blogger that nominated them.
  2. You need to choose 11 blogs with under 200 followers to pass the award onto and let them know you've nominated them by commenting on their blog.
  3. Come up with 11 new questions for them to answer.
So, here goes with 11 things you probably don't know about me...

Q1. What's been your best sale buy this season?

Oh gosh all of my summer buys have been bought in the summer sales, I think it has to be this gorgeous zara dress I bought just this Tuesday.

I haven't worn it yet so keep a look out for how I style it, this is how some of the celebs have worn it

Q2. Flats or heels?

100% a heels girl!!!

Q3. Why did you start blogging?

I started blogging because lots of people at work would compliment my outfits, and were always really shocked at the low prices of the items, so I wanted to show case that you can look super stylish and on trend on a budget.
Plus I like pointing out styles that look best on different body types, as most of my close girl friends are super tall, slim arms and legs and their problem area is their tummy.
Where as I'm 5ft 5, I keep a flat tummy what ever weight I am but my problem areas are my arms and legs. Many a time did I try and mimic one of their outfits and boy did it NOT work for me, so I have learnt how to dress for MY body type not someone else s.

Q4. What's on your wish list for the AW season?

I feel like my wardrobe is lacking colour and prints so I'm really interested to see what prints are on the horizon.
I'm also looking to get a really edgy winter coat. The one I got for winter 12 is a very classic elegant style, so I want something a little more on trend for those days I'm feeling very SJP.

Q5. If you could only shop in one store for the rest of your life, which one would it be?

This has got to be the hardest question for any shopaholic to answer...I think based on the current sale and the amazing pieces I got, I'm going with Zara.

Q6. Where do you get your style inspiration?

I regularly post my outfits on WIWT, and I like looking on there for how girls who are a similar shape to me are putting looks together.
I look online at celebrity trend and see where there is similar items on the high-street.
Most of my inspiration comes from walking around the city, from the commute to and from work, to walking along Oxford Street there is inspiration everywhere.

Q7. Who would you most like to meet in the fashion world and why?

Tyra Banks

She didn't come from money, she has made her fortune post modelling, she has been all shapes and sizes through out her career and exudes confidence with them all and she does a great deal for charity and encouraging young girls to believe in themselves.
Picking her brain would be an amazing experience.

Q8. Sweet or savoury?

Q9. Cocktails and dancing or, quiet meal and a DVD?

Cocktails and Dancing!!!

Q10. If you could choose a fashion era to style and wear, what would it be?

I have a mini obsession with Marilyn Monroe, and so I think it has to be the 50s but the Hollywood glamour of the 50's

Could she be any more sensational!!!

Q11. Do you have any weird talents?

I can roll my tongue in 3!?!

This isn't my tongue, but I can do it...random!!

On to my nominations...

Cara of NE_StyleSmart
Fifi of fifimcgee
Lucy of LucyLovesBeauty
Laura of FashionFor21
Imogen of ImogenMassey
Emma of TheBrunetteBeautyBlogger
Katherine Leigh of DirtyBlondeStyle
Martyne of GoingTheExtraMile
Sierra of BerryStylish
Ash of ABeautyMoment
Sophie of Sophisticatexx

My Questions for my nominees...

1. Who is your celebrity style crush?
2. What season style do you prefer (i.e. winter or summer styles)
3. If you could only wear 1 colour for the rest of your life what would it be?
4. What style or trend do you wish you could wear but doesn't work for you?
5. 1 beauty product you can not live without?
6. (steeling a question from above) Why did you start your blog?
7. What do you want to achieve with your blog/career in the next 10 years?
8. What's been your biggest fashion disaster?
9. Real, spray or sun bed tanning?
10. Best festival look this season?
11. Random fact about you
